Dixie County SWAT Club Hosts End-of-Year Celebration
May 29, 2025

On May 29, 2025, the Dixie County High/Middle School SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) Club celebrated a year of accomplishments by hosting an End-of-the-Year Bash during an open house held across all three lunch periods. The event welcomed school staff, teachers, parents, and students in grades 7–12, providing an opportunity for the entire school community to join in the celebration alongside SWAT members.

The celebration spotlighted the club’s achievements throughout the year, including local policy efforts and community involvement. Highlights included participation in the Shired Island Beach Clean-Up, addressing the Cross City Town Council to advocate for Tobacco-Free/Vape-Free Parks, presenting official Tobacco-Free/Vape-Free Parks signs to the town mayor, creating a SWAT-themed scarecrow, and sponsoring the Crossroads Festival.

In addition to celebrating past efforts, the club encouraged future involvement by sharing information on how students can join SWAT for the upcoming school year. Club members hosted games, played music, and set up interactive displays designed to educate their peers about the dangers of tobacco use. SWAT officers and members led presentations to engage students, distributed BTFF SWAT flyers, and answered questions about the club’s mission and activities.

To ensure all students had access to the event’s message, tobacco-related facts and SWAT announcements were broadcast throughout the day.

Dixie County High School SWAT President Jalen Teague shared, “It was a huge success!” Vice President Leslie Robert played a key role in planning the celebration and helped capture memorable moments by sharing photos from the event.
