Dixie SWAT Chapter Holds Recruitment Event!
October 30, 2025
On October 30, 2025, the Dixie County Middle/High School SWAT Club hosted a Recruitment Event during all three lunch periods at DCMHS. The club set up a themed display, “Choose Treats, Not Tricks,” featuring headstones and poster boards sharing facts about tobacco, vaping, and emerging nicotine products. The display highlighted how the tobacco and nicotine industry targets youth by using candy, fruit, and mint-flavored products to encourage addiction.

SWAT President Jalen Teague invited students to read a tobacco, nicotine, or vaping fact aloud in the lunchroom in exchange for a piece of candy. He also explained that by joining SWAT, students can take part in countywide prevention activities held throughout the year. Throughout all three lunch periods, every DCMHS student had the opportunity to learn how to become a SWAT member and discover how involvement in the club can help them build leadership skills, understand the tobacco industry’s deceptive marketing tactics, and make a positive impact in their community.
More than 30 new SWAT enrollment forms were distributed for students to take home for their parents or guardians to complete, helping empower the next generation of tobacco- and vape-free youth in Dixie County.
