SWAT Spotlight: Leslie Roberts
March 24, 2026

Since 2009, the Tobacco Free Partnership (TFP) of Dixie County has been guided by a leadership team consisting of a Chair, Co-Chair, and two Youth Representatives. These youth leaders play a vital role in ensuring that the voices and concerns of young people are heard, while also sharing updates on youth-led tobacco-free initiatives. Through their involvement, Youth Representatives actively contribute to leadership in tobacco control and advocacy, education and prevention efforts, information exchange, and policy development.

Over the past two years, Dixie County Middle/High School senior Leslie Roberts has served as a dedicated Youth Representative. In addition to her role with TFP, Leslie has been an active leader within the Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) program, serving as Vice President for the past two years. Through her involvement in SWAT, she has developed strong leadership skills that have carried over into numerous extracurricular activities. Leslie has held leadership roles in HOSA at both the local and regional levels, including treasurer, vice president, and Springs Region vice president. She has also served as secretary, reporter, and now president of the Criminal Justice Club.

Reflecting on her experience, Leslie shared that her involvement as a Youth Representative has allowed her to “learn valuable leadership skills and help promote healthier choices among my peers,” while also giving her the opportunity to “give back to my community and be part of real change.” She has played a meaningful role in local policy efforts, including presenting to the Cross City Town Council prior to the adoption of the Tobacco- and Vape-Free Parks Ordinance.

Amy Jones, SWAT Advisor at Dixie County Middle/High School, praised Leslie’s growth and leadership, describing her as “one of the most driven, dependable, and naturally gifted student leaders” and a “born leader.” Leslie has been instrumental in organizing key SWAT events, including the End of the Year SWAT Bash, and has represented Dixie County at Region 2 SWAT trainings.

As Leslie prepares to graduate, she leaves behind a strong legacy of leadership and service. She plans to continue her education with the goal of becoming a forensic psychologist. She will be greatly missed by her peers, advisors, and the entire Tobacco Free Partnership of Dixie County.
